Allcargo terminals expands CFS capacity to 3.6 lakh TEUs near JNP
Allcargo Terminals Limited has nearly doubled the handling capacity of its CFS near Jawaharlal Nehru Port, expanding from 1,90,000 TEUs to 3,60,000 TEUs annually. The expansion aligns with the company’s three-year strategy focused on scale, digitisation and infrastructure growth. Equipped with RTG-enabled, tag-less operations, expanded warehousing and dedicated ODC zones, the upgraded facility supports rising JNP cargo volumes, enhances efficiency and strengthens India’s EXIM trade and port-led logistics ambitions.

CMA CGM begins operations at Duqm port
Leading container line CMA CGM has begun regular port calls at Asyad Container Terminal in Duqm, Oman, marking a key milestone for the port’s development. The move strengthens Duqm’s connectivity and position as a logistics hub on Oman’s Indian Ocean coast, supporting new trade flows and supply chain resilience. The service is tailored to Oman’s fisheries sector, with a strong focus on refrigerated cargo, enhancing seafood export capabilities and reinforcing Duqm’s role in global maritime trade.

Mumbai airport refutes claims of cargo operations shutdown
Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport has refuted reports claiming cargo operations will be shut during upcoming infrastructure works, stating that freight movement will continue from August 2026 to May 2027. The airport operator said such claims are misleading, clarifying that while operational adjustments are expected, cargo services will not be suspended. CSMIA will undertake major airside modernisation, including runway recarpeting, a new taxiway, and reconstruction of Apron G, with measures in place to minimise disruption to cargo supply chains.

Maharashtra Identifies Seven Key Waterways for Development to Boost Inland Water Transport
Maharashtra is set to expand its inland water transport network as seven national waterways, spanning about 662.97 km, have been identified for development by the Union Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways. The move builds on the state’s strong IWT role, with six waterways contributing over 45% of India’s cargo movement in 2024–25. Supported by IWAI, the initiative aligns with the Maharashtra Logistics Policy 2024, aiming to boost cargo efficiency, reduce logistics costs, and drive port-led regional growth.

Railways Launch Double-Stack Niryat Cargo Express.
Indian Railways marked a major milestone by operating the Niryat Cargo Express as a double-stack container train from Ichhapuri Container Terminal, Gurugram, to Mundra Port. This is the first timetable-based assured transit service from Ichhapuri, following earlier trips from Garhi. The weekly, time-bound service offers faster, reliable cargo movement with minimal halts, reducing delays and logistics costs. Operated by Northern Railway’s Delhi Division, the initiative boosts export efficiency and strengthens rail-based freight connectivity for high-value cargo.
